Tansho (タンショー) is an elf student from the Elf World. She is the classmate of Mara and Yuri, who starts off as a cold character, but she quickly warms up to Yuri.
Appearance
Tansho has blonde hair that reaches her lower back, and she puts her hair into pigtails, which is secured by blue bands that match her eye colour. She has fair skin and a 109 cm bust, an M-cup in Japanese bra size. In school, she wears a sailor uniform, but she’s often in other attire outside of school hours.
Personality
She’s a headstrong elf whose own self-consciousness has made her pushy when around Mara and other students who she’s jealous of. A tsundere, if one may be so blunt. She’s quick to jump to conclusions, making her misunderstand situations every now and then. Her insecurity about her own body has led her to try out a large variety of options, from contacting Santa, to religious prayers, and massage therapy.
During her time with Yuri and Mara, Tansho has started to open up and come to find a bit more peace in her own body. But even with her self-respect having grown a new issue has arisen within, this being her presumptuous and possessive nature when around Yuri towards others, without yet having gotten confirmation of Yuri’s feelings towards her yet. She has a bright future and a big heart, but her troubled past weighs down upon her.
History
She goes to the same school as Yuri and Mara, and lives at Funou's dormitory together with them. Tansho is a young elf who’s had a hard childhood, as she’s insecure in her own body. This is made worse by Mara, who’s incapable of understanding Tansho’s struggle, Tansho gets even more insecure as Mara is unable to control her body, inevitably leading her to show off infront of Tansho and Yuri. She slowly befriends Yuri, as an accident makes Yuri realise that Tansho does have a softer side to her.
After having received some insight from Funou, Yuri asks Tansho about how elves perceive human women. Tansho mistakes this question as Yuri attempting to break the ice between them, and she begins to fluster at the thought of them being in a relationship together. Over the course of the year, Tansho and Yuri deepen their bond with one another, to Mara’s frustration at times. This frustration is made plainly bear during Christmas as she becomes jealous of Yuri giving Tansho more attention than her.
During a trip to a hot spring with Yuri and Mara they stumble into Umanami and Funou, a talk at the hot spring about what Yuri prefers makes her confidence grow, especially her words about chest size: “I don't think it hurts to be bigger, but...”1 Tansho feels that she might finally be able to be beautiful in Yuri’s eyes. Later in the year during New Year’s Eve Tansho and Yuri bond as Tansho asks for a special massage.
Relationships
Yuri
Initially Tansho thought of Yuri as just another person that’d be concerned about size, and a person out of her element, as some of the things Yuri does are very sporadic and done without thinking. An example of a sporadic action that Yuri did was when she touched Tansho’s ears without asking for consent. While their first interaction with one another was definitely intense, Tansho seemed to calm down and get to know her afterwards, as seen when they go shopping together for human products.
Their relationship changes drastically when Yuri asks Tansho about whether elves like human girls. Tansho misunderstands this as Yuri probing the waters for a potential relationship between them. This ignites Tansho’s feelings for Yuri and up until Christmas the 2 of them get to know each other more and more. On Christmas Yuri dresses up as Santa, Tansho is greatly embarrassed about Yuri having learned about her secret, but does not seem to let it bother her for long.
Tansho tries making some Valentine’s chocolate for Yuri since it seems to be a human tradition to give chocolate in the shape of one’s feelings, resulting in a rather awkward moment for Tansho but enjoyable for Yuri. This back and forth with Tansho trying to court Yuri via human culture continues until after Halloween.
Tansho reads in a magazine about body improvement through massage, and asks Yuri for help. The added side effect of this stunt is that it makes Tansho open up completely to Yuri about her insecurities and shows Yuri that she trusts the human girl completely. Tansho officially becomes one with Yuri at their next visit to the Elf Ocean where they become truly an item.
Mara
To begin with Tansho had a very strained opinion and relationship towards Mara as she was the one she would shout at when her own insecurities become too much for her to contain: As shown when Tansho gets peeved when Mara and Yuri put on an accidental performance before PE class. Despite this rather rocky start to their relationship with one another, both seem to become close friends as they hang out more and more with Yuri.
Despite their growing bond, Tansho still comments aggressively on Mara’s behaviour when she can’t control her body. During their visit to the hot spring Tansho even seemed to somewhat share a front with her towards Funou and Umanami when they wanted to get closer to Yuri, but still tries to keep her rival in check, like when Mara and Tansho get measured at school on measuring day. Where Tansho boasts about her hips to one-up Mara.
Funou
Tansho’s relationship with Funou can be assumed to be like that of Sensei and student, though they’ve rarely been seen interacting with one another. They are seen relaxing with one another when they visit the hot spring, even if said event is short-lived, because of the competition that arose.
Umanami
Their first interaction with one another was at the hot spring, but it can be assumed that Tansho has been seen and been introduced to her before, since Umanami lives at the same dormitory as she does. Tansho tries to show off her assets during their visit to the hot spring, in a bit of a rivalry cooked up by Umanami.
When Yuri isn’t involved they both seem to be on good terms with one another, as Tansho sees Umanami as just another kohai friend.
AV
It is unknown if Tansho even knows of AV-san’s existence as they haven’t met, and Tansho hasn’t been shown to read any of the magazines that AV-san appears in.
