Funou (フノウ) is a dark elf from the elven world, who is a dorm mother at an otherworld dormitory for humans and elves. Yuri, Mara and Tansho are known to live there, as well as Funou’s daughter Umanami who live together with her.
Appearance
Funou has white hair that reaches her hips, she lets it flow freely, and her eyes are yellow. She has dark skin and a 135 cm bust, which is a U-cup in bra size. She wears a maid outfit that does nothing but to show off her curvy figure. She is so far the most stacked character in the story.
Personality
She’s a dutiful mother, and takes care of the students in her dormitory, often going so far as to help the students foster relationships between each other, as seen with Yuri and Mara. She’s a good communicator when she isn’t pushed into a corner, which she has a tendency to like. It can be speculated that this liking to teasing and more forward nature, including skimpy clothes of hers, come from her late spouse who’s passed away. The passing of her late spouse can be seen weighing down upon her, as she’s rarely able to get in the mood for love.
Yuri’s forwardness towards Funou has led for the older lady's spark to be reignited. Her daughter's behaviour and misunderstanding of Yuri and her mothers relationship has led her to try and get those together. Funou is aware that she shouldn’t pursue such a relationship, but is willing to overlook it because she wants to reciprocate a relationship and fulfil her daughter's desire for another ‘mama’ in the family.
History
While most of her early life is unknown, it is known that she was in a relationship with another elf before having Umanami, but then she passed away. Another part of her mysterious past that is known is her connection with AV-san, which people can speculate over how far they go back. She loves helping youngsters at her dormitory, and is first seen in the story helping Mara with fixing Yuri’s homesickness and later Yuri with her understanding of elves. During Christmas Yuri teases and punishes her for giving Mara alcohol, causing Funou’s body to react in a surprising manner. This awakening is made further apparent when Yuri teases her for trying on her own daughter’s new school uniform.
As her daughter starts at the same school as Yuri, Mara and Tansho, Umanami starts to make trouble for her. And trouble came, as during a visit to a hot spring with her daughter, they stumbled into Yuri, Mara and Tansho. Conversations about who Yuri likes the most arise and her daughter’s forwardness and aggressive promotion of them both makes her extremely embarrassed in front of Yuri. Her feelings for Yuri deepens further as they visit the Elf Ocean to meet up with AV-san for a photoshoot. On New Year's Eve, the two open up and get intimate with one another, but Yuri leaves the event without a conclusion as she words the moment as being thankful for taking care of her during New Year’s Eve, rather than emotional bonding.
Relationships
Yuri
Funou initially thought of Yuri as yet another student, but goes so far as to try and help the elves who seemed like they want to get closer to Yuri, which’s the reason for her telling Yuri that she shouldn’t see elves as humans. Their relationship takes its first turn during Christmas, where Funou finds out that her body seemed to find an interest in her, this becomes once again apparent to her when she’s caught wearing her daughter’s uniform.
Upon the introduction of her daughter Umanami, Funou’s relationship with Yuri completely changes, as her own daughter kicks their romantic feelings for one another into high gear, which is seen during Umanami’s first time seeing Yuri and the hot spring. While at the elf ocean together with AV-san, Funou finally figures out that Yuri is indeed attracted to elves, which is a great relief to her. Their relationship is partially solidified during New Year’s Eve, when they open up to one another intimately. Even with this, Funou still thinks Yuri should behave in a more proper way, when in public that is what she’s previously done.
Mara
Funou sees Mara as a close dormitory child of hers, since she’s many times helped her out with her relationships and much more. Since Mara looks up to her, Funou is often put in a position where she’s accidentally forced to keep face by doing something she probably shouldn’t. She cares for Mara and talks with Yuri on her behalf in regards to how Yuri should really view elves, since Mara really wants to get closer to Yuri.
One of the positions where Funou was accidentally forced to keep face was when Mara asked her if she could get some wine, Funou seemed to think that Mara needed the wine to destress from her relationship frustrations. Funou’s relationship with Mara slightly breaks apart as her daughter Umanami starts at their school, she reveals that Funou has growing feelings for Yuri, which shocks Mara slightly away from her, but don’t seem to really be at odds with each other despite Umanami’s competitive scene at the hot spring. This can again be seen when they visit the elf ocean together with everybody else, Funou and Mara are still on a good footing.
Tansho
Funou sees Tansho as yet another one of her dormitory children, though since she’s friends with Yuri, this means that their relationship is a little deeper than it’d otherwise have been. While both desire to be with Yuri, neither of them is seen pushing the other away during competitive moments, like during the hot spring. How they acted with one another before both had feelings for Yuri isn’t shown, but it can be assumed that it was very good, as Funou did give Tansho access to the dormitory's kitchen. Tansho understands that she was being generous to help them get on another trip to the Elf Ocean, so chews out Yuri when she wanders off from their meant spot, since that’s bothersome to Funou. Showing both gratitude and kindness is found within their relationship to one another.
Umanami
Funou has a very close relationship with her daughter, Umanami. While she gets embarrassed by Umanami’s shenanigans, she is also seen getting up to her own small stunts, as when she tries on and seems to enjoy the idea of wearing her daughter’s school uniform. She’s a little put off by her daughter's idea of being in a threeway relationship with Yuri, though never completely tells her off, suggesting she might consider the idea an option.
Funou dislikes being the centre of attention, but puts up with her daughter’s antics since she seems to mean well, and she does like Yuri. They still have a good relationship, as Funou agrees that it would be nice to invite Yuri to the beach. She most likely thanks Umanami afterwards as she finds out that Yuri is indeed attracted to elves. When Umanami and Yuri go shopping, Funou seems fine with the idea of Umanami also dating her love interest.
AV
She sees AV-san as an old colleague, a forward going elf and a good friend, considering they’re friendly enough to the extent that Funou is willing to fill in for an impromptu photoshoot. They’re old pals, but it’s uncertain how far back their relationship goes, but far enough for pranking and a deep openness between them to be normalised.
